My Review:

What a fantastically emotional and hard hitting novel. I thoroughly enjoyed how Carr brought so many aspects of life forward. The realistic albeit at times larger than life storylines that intertwine created such an intimate feeling. The combination of life altering events of both the positive and negative variety was absolutely breathtaking.

The in-depth development of the entire cast of characters was fantastic. I loved getting back together with so many of the characters that I’ve come to love so far in this series. That said, Abby is such a self-centred, sanctimonious character throughout most of the novel that I couldn’t bring myself to like her, even when she did start to consider others. But above it all, Rick and his tale really hit hard in this one. I hurt for him, yet I loved seeing him come out the other side of it. And what strength, from both him and his girl.

Once again Carr has taken me back to Virgin River to experience the beautiful scenery and to live for a while alongside these fantastic characters. It’s a solid addition to the series and a great read on its own as well.
