"The Avengers meet Shadowhunters!"

Unseen in their black gear against the night sky, there are Sky Ghosts - gifted warriors who have been hiding among humans for centuries. They are bodyguards of the highest caliber and protectors of their cities at night, when they hunt those who choose the dark side, Sky Beasts.
Jane and Pain from the New York Ghosts Headquarters don't think twice about beheading a Beast or two. One night, they save two young men from their enemies' blades and find themselves in the middle of a war. As they put their lives at stake to save their wards, the main mystery remains unsolved: why would the Beasts hunt two ordinary human boys?

Spellbinding and violent, Alexandra Engellmann's Sky Ghosts series is exactly what Urban fantasy fans are looking for - a blend of action, humor, mystery, and a unique magic system.

My Review:

The story is exciting, full of action sequences and comical interludes. The plot kept my attention throughout. Engllemann is a very visual author. She makes everything so very easy to picture and to become part of. I loved the way that the history and mythology of the sky ghost was developed and presented. There were a few times that the plot dragged as the author filled in the background info, but it picked up again quickly. The action and suspense really ramped up at the last 1/3 of the story. And above all, it was fun.

Engllemann places her realistic characters in a fantastically exciting, supernatural world. The natural dialogue allowed me to experience the characters as they really were. The way that the characters were written I forgot that they were only in their teens, yet at the same time, they weren’t made to seem older than their experiences. I enjoyed the way that the characters were developed so you really get to know them.

This is an original and captivating novel that is the perfect launch to this series. It is a new to me author (& series) that I can’t wait to get more of.

It was hate at first sight. She broke chairs on his head, and in return he broke her bones.

When Marco joined the New York Sky Ghosts Headquarters, he expected trouble. What he didn't expect was a girl half his size that would turn his life into hell. They spilled too much of each other's blood for any hope for reconciliation. How did it happen that they ended up spilling blood for each other on a daily basis?

Sky Ghosts: Marco is the second book in the Sky Ghosts series, a young adult urban fantasy adventure for the fans of sword fighting, martial arts, and supernatural powers. If you liked Sky Ghosts: All for One, this short story is a must-read before the next part of the trilogy.

My Review:

This novella was engaging and fun to the last drop. The action intensive story gave me a lot of insight into the world of the Sky Ghosts. The suspense behind who Marco really is kept me on edge throughout. At the same time, the insight into what makes him tick provided a unique counterbalance. Pain is funny from the get go and the Pain vs Marco history was priceless.

As a whole, this was a fun & unique insight into the world of the Sky Ghosts. I loved how we got to know some of the characters on such an intimate level while also being on a wild ride.
