The instant Sherry and Carston meet, there’s desire and fascination in the air…but they’re complete opposites.

Smart-talking Sherry fought her way up from poverty to stardom as a country music singer. Now, she’s ever in the limelight, ever surrounded by clamoring fans, male admirers, and paparazzi, and her spangled cowboy boots carry her all across the country, from one brightly lit stage to the next.

A renowned but reclusive playwright, Carston cherishes his freedom, the silence of his home in the woods, and his solitary country walks. Any long-term commitment is obviously out of the question: how about a quick and passionate fling?

But when their names are linked in the scandal press, Sherry’s plans to become an actress are revealed. Is their budding relationship doomed?

My Review:

Culiner writes a sweet romance that definitely drew me in. This was a fun read that took me deep into the lives of the characters. She develops emotions in a way that are palpable. The setting also comes to life in a big way. I love the way that Culiner describes things, allowing me to picture them in detail, without having the plot lag.

I loved the dynamic between the main characters. His ‘I don’t like, except…’ against her career and fast paced life clashed and meshed in unexpected yet very natural ways. I appreciated the fact that the characters were somewhat older. The additional maturity added a rounder, more in-depth feeling to the story, rather than a popish, trying to get life in order feel.

Culiner has definitely developed an entertaining story full of emotion and all the sweetness of life. It was definitely a fun read.
