Seventeen-year-old Anastasia Lockhart has never led an easy life, but when she starts getting into serious trouble, she’s sent to live with her grandparents in Cedar Falls. The small, picturesque town hasn’t changed since she visited four years ago, with one exception – the presence of a handsome, mysterious boy named Frost. Despite warnings from her grandparents and friends to stay away from Frost, Anastasia can’t deny their attraction, and the more time they spend together, the deeper in love they fall. Unfortunately, Frost has a secret that is beyond Anastasia’s wildest imagination, and she soon finds herself in the midst of a supernatural legend that has haunted Cedar Falls for years.
Can Anastasia and Frost’s love really overcome anything, or are their fates much darker?
My Review:
Beck’s flair for the dramatic in her writing style really draws you in to the world of the main character. The sense of everything taking on a large dose of importance based on the beliefs of a 17year old is really remarkable. It not only allows readers to connect with her, but it brings us back in time to when we were that age, allowing us to remember how we would have reacted. The sense of mystery and the unknown surrounding a couple of the characters really had me hooked. The single-mindedness of others really puts you in the small town mentality, hitching the suspense of the novel up a notch.
I was completely entranced by this story. I couldn’t convince myself to put it down long enough to go refill y coffee. Beck’s originality combines with her captivating storytelling in an unforgettable manner. Paranormal readers of all ages will enjoy this adventure.
