My Review:

I could barely put this one down! Maynard’s originality and passion had me from beginning to end. The scenes were well put together, and the story believable yet not something most of us would ever live through. Her vivid descriptions bring the horrors of this story to life, contrasting sharply with the exciting romance brewing. Emotions also run high in this novel. I felt for the characters, and for the town as a whole.

This was definitely one extreme way to kick-start a relationship. The main characters were thrown together by a twist of nature in such a way that they were forced to deal with certain aspects of themselves and of each other. I enjoyed getting to know them both as they got to know one another better. My biggest issue with the story as a whole was the female lead. Yes both the main characters come from drastically different backgrounds. The male lead knows he’s well off and it doesn’t really go to his head (too much). The female lead, however, was regularly whining about the fact that she could never possibly amount to anything because she wasn’t bred like a top thoroughbred. There were a few times I just wanted to tell her to suck it up, and she can be whatever she makes herself into.

Overall, this was a fantastic novel that would be brilliant for an afternoon where you’re looking for a fast paced, quick read with original romance. I’ll definitely be looking much further into this author’s work in the future.
