My Review:
There is a melodic flow to this story that keeps you thoroughly entranced in Varenko’s writing. It is reminiscent of the ancient poets, with a very modern twist. I enjoyed how Varenko seamlessly melded mythologies of multiple different backgrounds together. Norse, Greek, Egyptian, and many others make their way into this tale, drawing you further into the story. Her descriptions and narrative make this story vividly real yet completely fantastical. These characters find themselves on an old fashioned, futuristic quest. It is the best of all the worlds.
The characters in this novel are quite unique, yet standard all the same. The gods & goddesses meddle. The characters resemble heroes of old. Yet at the same time, they all have a unique, fresh air to them. They aren’t overly approachable characters, but that is what makes them who they are.
Overall, this was a shockingly unique tale that kept me captivated. It was an emjoyable change from the everyday.
