My Review:

In some ways this is your typical first novel in a series. There’s lots of detail where you get to know the various characters and the town the story is set in. I really appreciate how Young does this, however. There is a bit of an info dump in the first chapter, but the rest is worked in throughout the novel. This novel (and the series) takes off right from the get-go. Young drew me in with her realistic, down to earth characters and kept me there with the captivating storyline. The story is emotional yet entertaining in the best of ways.

You really get down, dirty, and personal with these characters. Young writes in the first person, flipping between the two main characters, letting the readers into their lives and their minds. The romance between the main characters in this novel may be of the whirlwind variety, but it is still real, true romance. Young makes everything so believable. Oh, and I love Riley’s take on cows. It rivals me with chickens so I couldn’t stop laughing and it made it oh so easy to identify with her on that extra level that you rarely see in novels.

Overall? This was a brilliant read. I loved getting to know Old Town and its residents, as well as falling in love with these main characters. I’m glad I ventured out into the world of this new (to me) author and will be eagerly reading the rest of the series.
