Synopsis from Goodreads:
As the resident supernatural trouble shooter, Jasmine has built quite an impressive résumé. She’s faced serial killers, berserkers, wendigo, and even zombies, but has any of that prepared her for the monster that currently threatens her city? Even with the help of her friends and a mysterious new ally, will Jazz have the strength to stop the Loup Garouand find out what’s happened to the local undead?
Adult-content rating: This book contains content considered unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.
I am very intrigued with Walker’s method of character development. By telling this story from the main character’s point of view you get to know her inside and out. The “I thought …” vs “I said…” moments really help you get to know Jazz and those close to her. The intimate friendships in this novel (and the series as a whole) are so inspiring. They really shine through in this instalment, giving the reader hope even when there is little left. I’ve also completely fallen for one of the secondary characters in the series (who makes a rather small appearance in this particular instalment but is mentioned many times). I keep rooting for him. Walkers characters are all so well developed that you can’t help but falling in love with them.
As a whole this was a very exciting addition to the Salt Lake After Dark series. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the supernatural with a bit of an adult twist, but I would definitely suggest reading the rest of the series first.
