My Review:

This is definitely another hot and racy novel for Maxxwell. She’s off and running from the first page. Her usual in-your-face writing style, that we’ve come to know and love, brings this story to your mind’s eye in vivid clarity, making it next to impossible to put down. Maxxwell’s latest main lady takes us on a uniquely thought provoking yet immensely hot journey of self-discovery and plotting. The intricate story line balances well with the off centre couplings that we find throughout. My biggest issue with this novel was the fact that for the first ¼ of the book I felt like I was missing a key piece of information. Everything was revealed in the end, but up until them I was left wondering what in the world started this. It is definitely a brilliant read for someone looking for racy revenge and a quick, hot read.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Zach and Sam have a good marriage, or rather, they had. Love, respect, honesty, and hot, sweaty, headboard-banging sex. But change is never easy, and nothing lasts forever. With more emotional ups and downs than any of her previous titles, Divorced is a bittersweet, touching journey of one couple on the way out.

Adult-content rating: This book contains content considered unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.

My Review:

This one took me a little bit to get into, but then I was hooked. This is a very touching novel, while still remaining hot and racy. Emotions are the center point of this novel. It is charged on many different levels, leading to a real experience. Maxxwell really conveys the characters’ emotions to her audience, drawing you in close for one heck of a ride. I quite enjoyed getting to know the characters over a period of time. You not only saw where they came from but how they got where they are now. The characters themselves are a little hard to connect with at times, but they are quite well suited to the story itself. Based on their characteristics it’s easy to see why things happen the way that they do. My biggest peeve was actually the ending. I almost felt like the author was trying to give the reader some sort of a HEA, which really didn’t fit with the rest of the story for me. Sure, it was later in life for both the characters, but bringing them back together like that was just awkward for the characters.

Adult-content rating: This book contains content considered unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.

My Review:

This novel is well and eloquently written while still portraying Maxxwell’s usual in-your-face writing style. She definitely had me saying WTF and wondering where the story was going, while at the same time keeping ploughing forward to find out what’s going to happen next.

This novel is definitely firmly placed in the erotica category. That said, even in that genre I need to get to know the characters. Those presented in this novel are extremely superficial. Yes they have attitudes and beliefs but there’s nothing more to them than the storyline itself. You do get to know them a bit better throughout the story, but there’s never any real connection with the characters.

Overall, this was a captivating and very hot story. It was an enjoyable read.
