Synopsis from Goodreads:
A fortuitous invitation from her cousin Melina to come to Los Angeles rescues her from an uncertain future. In Los Angeles, Elizabeth finds security in the embrace of her aunt’s family and is introduced to the man who soon becomes her fiancé, Collin Greenslade, an ambitious, up-and-coming real estate developer. Life could not be more perfect.
When her cousin’s boy friend, a civil rights activist, has his Thunderbird vandalized in Mississippi, he enlists his roommate, Mark Laughing Hawk, to tow his car back home. Melina insists that she and Elizabeth should come along for the ride, but what starts as a fun romp across the country becomes a journey of the soul that complicates love and endangers lives.
Dreaming of Laughing Hawk is a contemporary novel of romantic suspense that explores the desire for love, power, and higher purpose and the lengths we will go to attain them.
My Review:
Katmarian has developed a cast of easy to relate to and understandable characters. She made me wish I were as strong as these characters. They were honest, hard hitting characters (or dishonest, hard hitting ones, depending). Some may have been over the top with their reactions, although this fit perfectly with the way that they were developed. At the same time, the main characters followed their hearts and what they believed in, even if it did take them a while to figure out what that was.
As a whole, this was a brilliant tale that I would definitely recommend to those who want a realistic escape from reality. I loved it and can’t wait to read more from this phenomenal author.
