Synopsis from Goodreads:I am so out of my league. Fancy parties, expensive cars, and a private school for the elite… It sounds like a dream. But everything is not as perfect as it seems on the outside. Here, the secrets are dirty, and the lies comes easy.
Welcome to my fab life.
The light writing style that Amare uses contrasts well with the sometimes heavy subject matter to create a very unique outlook on the life of a privileged teen. I appreciate that she didn’t just gloss over the realities of life, but rather faces them head on while showing what can happen and how one can stand up for oneself.
You get down and personal with the novel’s main character. You really get to know her hopes and fears. You feel like she’s a friend, and you can relate to and feel for her. Not only was the main character well developed, but the entire cast was. Amare keeps all of her characters true to the type of person that they are, as well as their age and station in life. It was a very well thought out and put together cast. My only issue with any of the characters was the fact that the dialogue seemed a little forced and unnatural at times.
Overall, I loved this story. It was a very fun and entertaining read. It was a brilliant introduction into Amare’s work and I cannot wait to dig in to her other series. Above all, however, this novel has left me with an overwhelming need to go buy a chandelier and to read the yet to be published sequel.
