My Review:

This was a quite well edited and very unique novel. It flows nicely from one section to another. The author also makes minute changes in her writing style to differentiate between the multiple moods and tones that one feels while reading this novel. This really accentuates various events and characters. Helcl also produces some phenomenal descriptions. I can picture this world without even trying it was laid out so well for me.

The cast of characters in this novel is quite diverse. There were many defined races with rocky relationships between most of them. Personally, I would have like to have seen a bit more character development. I found that some of the characters were quite superficial. Other than their immediate tasks or challenges in the novel, there was very little to them. The only character with a fairly well rounded development was the main character, and even so there were many times where I found myself wondering ‘why’. Knowing where she came from and more about her personally and her personal history would have helped with that. Not only would further character development have helped me, as a reader, identify with the characters, but it would have also solidified the storyline a little more.

As a whole this was a very memorable story. I found myself drawn in; wanting to know more about everyone and every place that was mentioned. I am looking forward to diving in to the sequel to find out more about this world and its people.
